Screening for type 2 diabetes mellitus as a method of secondary prevention of cardiovascular lesions

In patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), cardiovascular lesions are 3–4 times more often than in non-diabetics. Screening for T2DM in 1564 people from all Ukraine revealed that 12% had HbA1c at 6.1–6.4% and 16% had HbA1c above 6.5%.
